What's it all about?

I am so ready to move on and do something else, i just don't know what that something else is. Ideally, I would love to have my own business, but obviously now is not the time for that with the economy in the state that it's in. Ultimately, I think that the corporate world is not for me. I get so bored doing the same thing day after day, week after week, sitting at the same desk, working the same hours, seeing the same people, staring at the same computer. I start asking myself philosophy-of-life questions like "Is this all there is?" "What is my purpose?" etc. etc., until I feel like a crazy person!

When and how will I figure it all out?

I just attended the holiday party at my current place of employment.  Said employer is in the middle of a hefty government bailout thanks to a handful of executive scumbags, so instead of having a nice meal and several glasses of wine at a decent restaurant, we had to fly under the radar this year with a potluck and soft drinks.   

The party had potential, but most people backed out of their homemade food promises and opted for store bought items.  To top it off, we ate on 8-foot folding tables with no tablecloths and someone had x-mas carols playing on a boom box.  

Maybe next year when Barack is president and the economy is in better shape, we'll have a holiday party that makes me feel appreciated for working so hard all year!

I've wanted to start blogging for quite some time, but I could never figure out what to write in my first entry. It's not that I don't have anything to say. I have an opinion on just about everything, and I have no problem expressing those opinions. In fact, I'm one of those people who often says too much. But this is different. Should I make my first entry about something personal or something superficial? Should I blog about subjects that I'm concerned about or just random observations? Meanwhile, these questions and this hesitation has only done one thing--prevent me from starting a blog. So here it goes...
